Our best stories

Hi teachers!

Here we go! These are my stories  for students of third grade in the Primary School, These stories are simple to understand for them. Furthermore, the tale’s story is known and this facilitates their interest in reading.

                                         THE SLEEPING BEAUTY

We have chosen the tale of The Sleeping Beauty, for students of third grade in the Primary School, because we think it is simple to understand for them.

At the beginning of the session we will give to every student a glossary* with vocabulary, that is going to appear along the story, and they can check it in case that they have any doubt.

When they finish the story, the teacher will ask questions to the students (e.g. what do you think about the story? Would you like that the story had another ending? What book would you like to read?). After the questions, the teacher organizes the students in couples and asks them to choose a tale.

In the next session the teacher teaches them the tale of The Sleeping Beauty modified, with another atmosphere, even with others characters, but they have to respect the base of the story.

The end of this activity consists in seeing the students’ creativity and their talent when they imagine a story based on other.

An example of this:

In the original story Aurora faints when she touches the spinning machine.

And in the modified story Beauty faints when she drinks from a beautiful flowe
This is just an example, the teacher will have taught the whole modified story.

                                 TOM SAWYER

We chose the story of Tom Sawyer, the book tells the adventures of a young boy which could be identified by our students, Tom is a naughty boy and likes to make new friends.
To work this story, students would read 4 or 5 pages each day in the classroom. In this way we ensure that all children read the story and go at the same time , which would not happen if they read at home. Children have a glossary of words from the story which would underlining those whose meaning is not understood. At the end of the story, they have to made various activities included in the book. The teacher during reading sessions, would make questions to see if the children have understood the reading.
Once these activities are realized, the teacher shows them a video where you made on the goanimate.com portal a video with scenes of the story. The activity that have to do the is to create a video that is related to the reading or continue the end. They would work in pairs and the session would take place in the computer room.
